Here’s your first look at 凰权 (literally as The Imperial Power, but I’m borrowing the title from the drama adaptation). The summary doesn’t tell much, but I did spent a mixture of precious time, brain power, and blind Googling trying to translate ancient-speak into English as eloquently as possible, so bear with me.
The summary
He didn’t love her, neither did she love him.
He was bound to knock her down; she would definitely trample him.
He didn’t want to marry her; she most definitely didn’t want him.
…...even if they are in their bridal chamber one day, she must be on top, suppressing him.
The shift in imperial power was like waves scouring the sand.
He who was belittled and persecuted yet remained true to his ambition.
She whose life was cloaked in mystery yet hid a tormented heart.
Who ensnared whose country, and who became whose home?
Who carved a path to the netherworld on the throne of imperial power,
forcing the other to overthrow the world together?
Who stared at whom longingly in the Jiuzhong Palace,
against the backdrop of the dull clanking of the soldiers’ halberds,
the bursting of their yearning like the blossoming of flowers?
Who drank poisoned wine with a smile,
in exchange for dyeing a heart with a little vermilion?
These were troubled, dangerous, extravagant times.
He refused to surrender, she refused to halt her path.
Tsk… was it she who commanded the grandiose chaos, or was it the chaos that commanded her?
The very basic plot
Our protagonist is Feng Zhi Wei, an illegitimate daughter who was banished from her home and joined the prestigious Qingming Academy. She first became opponents, eventually great friends, and finally lovers with the sixth prince Ning Yi. She then (of course) learned a deadly secret and swore vengeance on the ruling kingdom. Expect a sweeping romance, political intrigue, treacherous trickery, and most importantly (and most winningly, in my opinion), the meeting of equals.
This was just something I started because I was too impatient for the drama (the pairing is unbelievable + Xiao Bai is in it!). The first 11 chapters are ready to get you as excited as I am for the drama, lol.
