Please Be More Serious: Epilogue Excerpt

Yin Ting begins to cry.

It is a bad habit to cry so easily, she thinks. She finds Qiu Zheng Qing amidst the crowd and hugs his arm. When she wipes her tears, Qiu Zheng Qing takes out a tissue to help her.

The stage has ended. The show’s emcee takes the stage and thanks everyone for their support. He praises all the participants’ effort in discovering the beauty in life. “Your warmth and effort are more than what we can give you as a reward.”

Yin Ting claps enthusiastically.

She continues to hear the emcee speak on happily. Qiu Zheng Qing suddenly hands her another tissue. “I’m not crying,” she says. “Just take it, it will come in handy later,” he replies.

Puzzled, she takes it anyway.

The emcee clears his throat. “As you all know, we have a Vice President named Qiu Zheng Qing. An announcement carrying his full name was once put up on the company’s website for an entire month.”

Everyone erupts into laughter. Yin Ting too smiles, stealing a glance at Qiu Zheng Qing. He also looks at her. She only sees that he is also smiling but doesn’t notice that he seems to be a little nervous.

The emcee continues on, “Therefore his position is higher than me, his power is greater than mine. What I’m about to do next is all due to his coercion.”

The audience no longer laughs. All of them are curious. They all calm down and listen intently.

Yin Ting holds onto Qiu Zheng Qing’s arm and asks quietly, “What did you do?”

He says nothing.

Now that the audience has stopped laughing, it is the emcee’s turn. He pulls out a piece of paper from his pocket and reads the word written on it. “@tingtingyuli413, @413510 asks if he can set the wedding date on December 24. He says that it’s a special day to the both of you.”

Yin Ting’s mouth opens in surprise, and then closes it.

The spotlight shines on her and she nearly drowns in the applause. 

She blinks a few times. She sees that everyone around her all have smiles on their faces. She turns to see Qiu Zheng Qing looking at her. Her tears fall. How annoying, she is really crying again.

“You can!” Yin Ting cries. In a fell swoop, she throws herself into the arms of Qiu Zheng Qing. In a louder voice, she repeats, “You can!”

Qiu Zheng Qing laughs heartily. So does everyone else.

Yin Ting buries her face in his chest.

She feels blissful.
